If you are installing in a machine that has a SCSI bus, you need to set
different ID numbers for your devices. In a 7500 - which you mention - open
the Apple Profiler and look at Devices and Volumes and check what the IDs
are of your SCSI devices on each bus (say Bus 0). Mine, for example, has
Hard drive ID=0, Hard drive ID=2 and CD-ROM drive ID=3. Before installing my
second hard drive, I checked to see that 0 and 3 were taken so I made the
new one 2. Each must be unique.

IDEs master/slave relationship is altogether different and does not apply to
SCSI as far as I know. On SCSI you can have lots and lots of devices, not
just a couple. SCSI devices are all are more or less equal, the controller
keeping track of them by their unique IDs.

As for how to set the ID number on a HD: if there are no clear instructions
on where to put the jumpers to do this and no other mechanism, you can do
this: try this and that until one works and shows up in the Profiler and has
a unique number. If you are having trouble mounting it, you can disconnect
some or all (if you are confident the new one has valid OS on it) of the
other SCSI devices (to increase your chances that your new HD will have an
initial unique number that does not clash, there is a default). By knowing
the IDs of the ones you have disconnected temporarily from previous checks,
you can either proceed to change the ID of the new HD or change the IDs of
the other devices before connecting all up.

Pardon me if I have missed the details of previous posts and this advice is
not helpful.
