Hi all;
  The Beige G3 (Gossamer) has 2 ATA (IDE) busses on the logic board marked
J9 and J10. The boot drive goes on J9 jumpered as "master". The CD goes on
J10 jumpered as "master". Any other drive on the J10 cable should be
jumpered as "slave". This works on my G3-DT 266 and my G3MT-300.
  According to our resident G3 expert Mr. PeterH., the J9 bus will not
support 2 drives without a special cable.
  The CD must be set to master to boot from it. It's best to leave things as
Apple had it when you add drives. If I got any of this wrong, I'm sure Peter
will clarify. HTH
