This is a note I received from a friend, who is a member on one of my sites. I use a Mac, but he uses a PC. I have tried everything I could think of to help him, with no luck. Could all these problems perhaps be in his machine?? (Hope it's all right that I post this here!!) - Peg
Step by step. I click on my "My family" icon on my desktop. It gives me the list of my user names I click on my user name and the front page of Writing, Crafts, Photos etc. comes up. Looks good. I click on anythng. ( I mean anything) and it tries to take me there and seems to be downloading but stops about half way. (57%) and freezes my browser. Except for the very top lines: (1)Writing, Crafts etc., My Site, (2) My Family.com, Ancestry.com etc., (3)front page-addresses, calendar etc., and (3) a thin black line the screen is blank. The browser is still trying to download but doesn't respond to my mouse on anything but X out. I have to reboot to use the net, however I can still send and receive e mail. If I haven't rebooted I can't get anything from the net. If I click on a "New Content" reminder it takes me to my list of user names. I click on my Writing - etc. name and it tries to take me to the posted item as I said before and does the same thing. I am on 10 My Family sites. This and the Tennessee site are the only ones that does this to me. They also been playing with very large banners and front pages. These two are most active of all. I think I would enjoy the Tenn one too if I could use it. I have a lot of stuff I could share with them. I sure hope we can figure this out. I miss you guys.
is there a mysterious .swf (flash file) in the browser temp item folder ??? - it has started to happen here recently, you have to trash the explorer prefs to fix it. or just throw that temp file away perhaps, it is still there after restart, but appearantly not in use. L --
