Thanks for this, Chris but I was not really so unhappy or complaining, I am sort of accepting that things are not going to improve much on 56K but have an ear cocked for any suggestions to improve things (so far, I have heard nothing that is a practical goer). The least of my concerns is knowing about product comparisons. I know that ADSL would be more than adequate if I got it and it is not that expensive anymore. Figures that industry put out are not for me in present mood. I believe what I see and what friends (including folk on this list) tell me.
