Hi,

What am I doing wrong, or not doing? I just purchased a new, in the box, G3 upgrade card for my PowerMac 7300/ 200 (736 RAM, running 9.2.2 Old World Support). The upgrade card is XLR8 Turbo Mach w MVP. It was easy enough to install, replacing the original card, but now I cannot seem to get this variable speed card configured right. It came with a floppy that has the appropriate control panel (MACh Speed G3 Control 1.0.2), but after installing in my system folder, and trying to access this cp, I get a strange error message ("Exception Thrown, Error#-50, File: XLR8Window.cp, Line#157") I'm not very familiar with backside cache ratios and the like, and just want to get this G3 upgrade card working. Apple System Profiler tells me that my computer is still running PowerPC 604e at 200 MHz, and the bus speed is still 50. I downloaded a newer 1.4.3 version of "XLR8 MACh Speed Control" from the DayStar internet site (SLR8 is no longer in business), and installed in my system folder, but I'm not sure it's even the appropriate one for this G3 upgrade card. The Owner's Manual has easy enough instructions for installing the card, but is no help at all for setting "switches to the 'on' position" or helping me better understand "bus speed" and "bus ratio" settings. Since there is no technical support number to dial, I'm hoping that someone on this list familiar with G3 upgrade cards might be able to lend a hand, or suggest an FAQ site where I can learn a bit more about this issue. TIA for any helpful advice!

P.S. I just now did receive an e-mail messge from Daystar Technology that I can download their software from their website, http://www.4daystar.com for a fee. I'll have to check that out, but don't feel very happy about doing that, unless it's v-e-r-y cheap!
