old Blue & White G3 350Mhz, now dead). Would there be any problems with
installing OS X.0 on my PowerMac 7300/500 (has the G3 500Mhz upgrade card). I
already have OS 8.6, and OS 9.1 on separate partitions. Would it be best to install
OS X on another partition?

And what about upgrading OS X 10.0 to 10.1.5 on the PM 7300/500?

Also, what about RAM? I only have 200MB of RAM at present, which has been
just barely sufficient.>>

All the info you need is available in great detail at:

http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/

Click on the documentation link.

Then check the Apple site for OS X upgrade paths from 10.0 to 10.1.5. You may
need to buy 10.1 upgrade CD before you can download the free upgrades to
10.1.5, (don't remember). I did buy 10.03 with the 10.1 upgrade disc from OWC,
then used the Apple's free downloads to get to 10.1.5.

Currently, OWC has 10.1 full install for $6
http://eshop.macsales.com/Item_MailList.cfm?ID=5440&Item=APLOSX101CD

Since you have a G3 installed you could just buy a full install of 10.2 for
$29
http://eshop.macsales.com/Item_MailList.cfm?ID=5439&Item=APLOSX102CD

and download more recent 10.2 upgrades from the Apple site.

Definitely upgrade your RAM. I run 512 MB in the 7300. 128 MB DIMMs for going
for $17 from OWC.

Just for the record I am not associated with OWC other than being a customer.

Finally, the LEM unsupported list is also a great resource for running OS X
on PCI Macs.

Don't expect great performace but it is a fun experiment --glen
