Dear List:

A couple of days ago I posted a message to this list with regard to expanding my home network. My existing
network consists of a Power Mac G4, a Powerbook G4 (with Airport), and a D-Link DI-624 Wireless router. I
have an old Performa 6360 (souped up with a Sonnet G3 400 card) into which I have installed two ethernet
cards and IPNetRouter (v 1.6.9) software. The Performa is running OS 9.2.2 with 128MB.

In my network setup I want to have it go as follows:

1. The high-speed modem plugs into one of the ethernet cards on the Performa.
2. From the second ethernet card, the Performa plugs into my D-Link router.
3. The rest of the network remains unaltered.

My question is that when I run the ethernet cable from the Performa to the router, do I plug that cable into the
WAN port or one of the LAN ports on the router?

Why are you doing this? If you're not running routing software on the Performa, the rest of your network won't be able to see the Internet at all.

If you are, use the WAN port. That way the router knows to route outbound traffic via that connection.
