I have an old external Newer Technology LinkCom 33k modem that I'm trying to
get working w/ my PowerMac 7300/180 w/ Mac OS 8.1. I found the driver file
on the floppy (which thankfully was still good), but after setting up the
Modem, TCP/IP, and PPP control panels the modem just flashes a light a
couple times, clicks, and the computer says it's not responding correctly
just as it does when there is no modem attatched. I never recall this modem
working flawlessly; Has anybody else had a similar problem? Can it be fixed
or is the modem unsalvagable?
Thanx,
ES

Does it have lights on a panel ? Do any of them come on when trying to connect ?
Do the modem settings stay saved ?
Are all of the serial connections VERY clean and tight at both ends of the cable ?
