I once tried .7 but went back to .6 (the .7 version had some security updates which did not impress me anyway) because I had trouble of this kind and other kinds. Don't know why. The disk you have nominated or to which it defaults its cache has plenty of room? It is not too fragmented? I would do this: rebuild desktop using Techtool Lite, put a disk checker like Norton's through, defrag your disks, check what is set as default opening page (choose none), try it off line (and no network activity is being used) and if necessary get 5.1.6 and freshly load it, chucking .7 Checked your Ram recently?
