Hey,

I hooked up my ATTO Express PCI PSC card
this is an ultra wide HBA, which worked great
on my PM8600/800g4, to my MDD along with my two
cheetah drives.. ultra wide is 40mbps.

Just accessing files on the cheetah drives
(when booted on the ATA drive) is normal. But I
installed Panther on this drive and....

it is dog slow!!
It took all night to install the OS
and installing the 10.3.4 combi updater
took 4 hrs!
And boot up is damn slow...
and i tried running Xbench (to compare
to the ATA drive) and it could not even
finish the disk test in 20 min! -- forced quit
also when dogging down, the graphics refresh
and mouse skipping around is terribly frustrating.

When I was running XPF Panther on my PM8600/800g4
these drives worked just fine... My PM8600
ran Panther better than the MDD!

Have any of you experienced this problem?
Is my new mac just too damn fast for this
older (re:slower) data path?

I hope there are some knowledgeable SCSI-ers
who can help me try to keep these drives...
else look out Swaplist!

EBC
