My printer is a Canon s450 color inkjet USB, connected to my 7600/Sonnet G3/400/512MB RAM, and an add-on PCI USB card (brand?). The printer cost $49 a few years ago, and has done a very decent job for home use. I've run it from 9.1, 9.2, and now in 10.3.4 (Panther!). I've even been able to set it up as a networked printer and print documents from my Win XP machine, which has saved me from buying a second printer.

I assume you have other USB devices that work OK?

Good Luck,
Mike

Hi.

I have been trying, without success, to get a HP Officejet to work with my 7500
which has been upgraded with a G3 processor. I finally emailed HP and after
several meaningless replies they said:

"Due to the limitations of an upgraded Macintosh G3 processor, the printer
cannot support this. The G3 Mac must have a native processor and not an
upgraded one for the printer to work with the Mac."

I have been spoiled of the years by having a LaserWriter Select but I now need
a good quality color printer (a stand alone is now preferred) and never
realized having an upgraded 7500 was going to be a problem. So, my question is,
what is a good printer out there that is known to work with my system? I have a
7500 with a PowerMax G3 processor, 256 MB RAM, a Keyspan USB card with 2 ports
(HP also says not having a built-in USB port prevents the printer from working
too.)

Surely others with similar setups are using color printers. Suggestions greatly
appreciated.

Thanks, Patrick
