barek moon asks a Q much like the one I pose a while back, about a PCI
riser in the single PCI slot of the 6360. I myself got a single riser,
because i plan to use the TV module that sits on a metal shelf above the
PCI slot. But Barek raises an interesting notion: if one didn't care to
use the TV module and did not care about the coaixial nipple usnit that
normally goes in the area above the PCI slot, could one hack the metal
housing and clear room for a 2 slot riser in the 6360 case? with that
metal shelf area removed, it seems there would be room physically to add
a two slot riser card with right angle turns, to take two PCI cards. the
second PCI card could poke its port out the cutout designed for the
coaxial port if the riser was spaced right.
my real wonder is how would the motherboard react to finding itself
having input coming from two PCI cards, in a slot where it only expects
input from one? is there a PCI controller on the board, that will have
no way of handiling input from more than one attached PCI card?
IF the answers seem hopeful, I might try this notion myself, up the
road, if the TV project loses its luster for me.
So let's hear everybody's feedback on this idea.
