For OS 9, USB will only work at 1.0 speeds, just make sure you have the latest USB drivers on it.
Standard firewire 400 devices will work fine.
If you want those faster speeds for USB you'll have to upgrade to OS 10.2, but that would require a G3 or G4 processor, lots of RAM, etc

Hi, people. I am wondering about usb support on MAC OS 9.x computers. I'd like to know if the MAC OS 9.1 (which is the system I'm using) supports USB 2.0. Or isn't it nothing to do with the software but with hardware? Do pre-G3 machines support USB 2.0? In fewer words: is it possible to run USB 2.0 devices at rated speeds with a PowerPC 9600/300??
I've heard and read that FireWire 400 is supported by this kind of systems. Is FW 800?
Thanks and hope your answers.
