Can't help it. I have to put in my 2 cents...
The case of the 8500 is terrible. I took it apart, just to have a look see. and wow... 45 minutes later... Now I was in such haste I did not realize there was a screw that held the mother board to the bracket... They will come out together with a lot of hard work.
My BAD!!!
The PCI SLOT!!! What A LOAD OF [EMAIL PROTECTED]@!!!
The little silver grounding strips are from H. E. double L. I had a PCI USB card issue that had me swap 3 cards in and out all after noon. The tin foil PCI retaining thingys are bent and it requires some real force to put a PCI card in. With the power supply and the CPU installed the PCI slots are completely un accessible... What is wrong with a simple screw? Pee Cee's have used them for years. The plastic clip? Wow that was neat for about 10 seconds until it snapped off. Good thing the razor sharp tin foil is still in place to retain the cards...
The B&W is a dream to work on. Open the draw-bridge and fiddle away. The 8500 is a lesson in torture. I had a 950 quadra Server that was HEAVY but easy to work on. That power supply could keep a small village powered up.
I am with the 8500 NAH! department.
