Well, I don't know what a "modern" Mac ZIF CPU might look like,
but the one I have in the 8500 came from a "Blue & White" and is
a smaller circuit board with the CPU and a few other chips (I think
cache and a few others) that mounts to the ZIF socket much like
PC cpu chips fit onto their boards. The heat sink then clips over
the combination with a couple of retainer clips. That way, you can
upgrade the machine by buying new cpu modules.
