Hi there
I got fed up with buying 2nd hand ADB keyboards and having them develop faulty keys two months later. So i bought a cheap USB windows keyboard and it works really well! For a start my shift key works!!
But obviously its the other function keys that i'm having a problem with.
Is anyone else using a USB windows keyboard? How did you work around this problem?
Cheers James
Hi, James, James here... :)
I am typing this on my PC Logitech Internet Keyboard, through a KVM box to the mac with a very cheap .99c off ebay PS2 to USB converter.
I am in Canada, and the mac at first wanted to use the Canadian CSA keybaord layout... I did not think anything of this.. works fine with my ADB keybaord, but when using the PC ... it coverted a lot of characters to french accents... no need for me.. bloody Irish Canadian ;)
When I went to the keyboard control panel.. i switched it over to a USA layout, and boom... no problems.. My CTRL acts as CTRL the WINDOWS KEY.. acts like the apple control key.. which kind of almost reminds me of it because its a funky shape...and the ALT is the ALT.. so I have run into little of no problems otherwise..
It is possible that the converter I am using.. which the mac usb drivers, find.. identify and use perfectly are the trick here.. maybe a made to USB keyboard needs firmware that is mac friendly.
