Can be easily... mere voltage is not a reliable indication of condition and it should be 3.6 anyway, any loss of voltage when you are not putting a load is a ground for suspicion. Try a small load and see. If it is awkward to get another, just for temporary, hook up any 3.6 well charged supply (any 3 nicads... or many camera lithiums) to your Mac.
