I don't think it's a total PSU voltage issue. More that the PCI slots need a specific voltage the 52xx and similar infrared Macs don't have fed to the board plug but as you said it works and I haven't been able to make one fry anything yet. I have even installed a PCI video card in the LC580/5500/225 of mine and it worked fine but who knows for how long, I pulled it for another project. An ethernet card would be far more forgiving to the voltage needs than a Video card. I have put 5500 boards in 52xx, 62xx, 63xx and an LC 580 with good results but keep the PCI slots empty just in case. My LC5500/225 has a PCI USB card in it and it works fine also so who knows. Something to keep in mind in case it acts up later. > > > The 6500 backplate (metal) will not fit anything but a 6400 or 6500. > If your putting a board into a 52xx just use the OEM backplate from > the 52xx on the 6500 board or any 54/5500 backplate will work also. > The plastic rear covers will fit over any board with the correct > backplate. > _______ > I guess a prior owner already switched in the 5400 metal backplate, as > everything seems to fit just fine. G-Man > Friends don't let friends do Windows It will be like a new Mac, my LC580 went from 33MHz to 225MHz and that made it usable again. There is a board swap tutorial with pics on my web page listed below, just click the Project black Mac. It's for a LC580 but the infrared Macs are all the same basically. http://krowmagnum.4mg.com/ Good Luck, Ron -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
