My reply follows quote. On 1/1/05, at 11:00 -0700, X wrote: >Is there any doubt left that it is Microsoft's corporate culture that's >at fault here? Getting perilously close to a nanny-closed topic. I wish you would it's very clear that neither myself nor the other party is going to budge on this topic or what we believe. That rant was so far out of left field I didn't even know what to make of it. Most of what he stated is simply a big numbers game based on half truths and spin doctoring. I'll gladly take it off list and try to explain large number theory and statistical probability to other party in question. 1)For he's totally off base A)The evil empire from Redmond has been very successful in marketing it's Office Software for OS X. B)The nice folks in Redmond happen to own a pretty sizable block of Apple stock. C)In summation Bill Gates cares about one thing the all mighty dollar. I happen to think being a less than attractive target is a good thing from a security standpoint. :) Might be the main reason I seldom to never web surf with my PC or even a Mac that has OS X installed. My primary web surfing beast is a 6400/200 with a hefty ram(80meg in the slots) and drive (6gig) upgrade so it can run 9.1... Because the chances of someone bothering to write malware that could effect that hardware OS combo are pretty close to non existent. Why should I put any of my newer and faster machines into the line of fire when that little beastie not only does that task it does it very well. I've used Mac's and PC's with their "native OS" as well as Linux compiled for 68K/x86/PPC for the better part of 20 years now. In my opinion all those platforms have strong and weak points but that's another topic entirely. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
