It wasn't a jumper setting--I tried every single jumper setting; no
combinations, though, I only had one jumper. I downloaded Lido and
loaded it. It reported the drive being twice as large as it actually
was. Still, I tried to format the drive and it crashed. I had to force
quit it and restart.

Turns out I really resource-forked something up big time. Now Drive
Setup said "there was no disk in the drive." Lido would bounce back
SCSI error 05 on every operation. I dediced to mess around in Lido, see
what that would do. I changed the interleave factor from a "default"
0:1 to 1:1, played around a bit more, and eventually had to force quit a
hung Lido and restart.

Surprise, surprise, the disk now had 512-byte sectors (it originally had
1K sectors)! After a required low-level format in Drive Setup, the disk
was ready to go! I formatted it HFS+ and copied over my old disk. It's
working great now! I ran Drive Setup's Test Disk function and Lido's
Verify Test with no errors.

I don't know what happened, but thanks!
