I have a Power Macintosh 7200/120 with 54mb of ram with a PowerPC 601.
I wanted to add usb support so I could access my Canon SP200spx and my
64mb thumb drive. After trying two diffent cards one from a store that
said it would work on my computer I gave up. I was running OS 9 and
was wondering if there was some reason these old PowerMacs don't
support USB Cards or is there extra software I need.

Did you download and install Apples USB Drivers? Here is the page:

You need to install these in 8.6 and all versions of 9.
