Hmm, I stand corrected. It's more likely my info is just rather
dated...in the earlier days (10.0-10.1 if I recall the time frame) of
OS X I do recall there being issues with getting it to work, along with
many other things.

Think you may have had a temporary brain cramp and gotten that
backwards. The 2940UW isn't supported in OS X, but the 2940U2B is an
OEM card that's fully bootable in OS X. Can't say from personal
experience if it's compatible with Tiger; but my G3'ed PCPro boots
Jaguar 10.2.8 just fine from an Ultra2 SCSI drive on the 2940U2B.
