Working for Best Buy's Geek Squad I see this happen somewhat often. Usually ist just a bad flash drive. I once seen a USB IronMan timex watch that would overload the usb on some computer..and if they has WinXP it would actually tell ya that..and on others make it shut down.
If ya have a Best Buy soon the Geek Squad should test it for ya if ya just ask. But it sure seems like ya got a bad stick there.
