in my case the battery is quite new ,
but problem now resolved ,
i tried the keyboard startup PRAM zap ~ had to tape a pencil to my finger
to reach the power key while pressing the key combo ! ~ but to no avail
the problem was still there ,
then i tried version 3 of tech tool lite instead of the verson 1.04 i've
got already ~ hey presto i zapped the PRAM with TTL 3 and it cured things
!,

my 7300 now lives with 448MB of RAM .
