Yes ... I believe the onboard L2 cache of an 8500 needs to be removed
if you have a cpu upgrade card such as a Sonnet one ... you;re lucky
you can just pop it out like a memory stick ...
in a 9500, you have to remove a resistor from the motherboard ...
