Depending on the model of printer and computer, you might need the
8 pin serial cable, but they were only needed on older Macs that
couldn't use USB. Serial connectors were available on Epson SC
900's and previous models. IMHO the 900 (USB & Serial) and the 980
(USB only) were the best printers Epson ever made!

And most PCi macs accept at least a USB card. The 6400/6500 does,
and the G3s take USB/Firewire combos just fine. USB (be it slow or
fast) is handy for modern printers, and for the use of memory sticks.
Which are handy for file transfers between home & office, or between
Mac & PC. The new diskette, so to speak. Leaves MO’s (real antiques),
Syquests and Zips in the dust, now that 512 mb are quite affordable.
