It was not contained in the published PCRE ZIP file. There is nothing that PCRE can do to fix or even validate your conftest.exe since it is not a part of the PCRE package. It is a part of your MinGW package. You might find the source code "conftest.c" within one of your MinGW installation paths. Searching the internet finds that MinGW's conftest has been previously flagged as a potential trojan, perhaps sometimes falsely. > What is a test virusscanner can detect as a trojan? Submit your conftest.exe file to http://www.virustotal.com/ You'll get a report of potential detections by a large number of anti-virus, anti-trojan, etc. packages.
