John, you're going to ruin the barn with that SIS thing in there, can't you
just shoot it?
I have had a number of friends/client with the same displeasure of having
owned an SIS board. ALI is far better, I've been running my Asus P5A-B for
3 years now with no complaints and it's equipped with the ALI 5 set. There
were issues in the past with the AGP controllers but that's mostly been
worked out. If you are shopping for a new machine then either a Pentium 3
or an AMD Athlon/Duron will work fine, if you require a lot of power then
go for the AMD Thunderbird instead of the Pentium 4. The AMD is cheaper
and performs better in most all aspects except for PhotoShop
benchmarks. Just my 2 cents. HTH
