Ralph, 166mhz CPU is not a PII, and SDRAM is DIMM's (168 pin) not SIMM's (72 pin). I don't know what the orig problem was/is, but you can't mix 72 & 168 pin memory on MOST boards, they won't support this (if that's what he is doing). In very rare cases, you can. (Of course I'm talking about those type boards that have both type memory slots). If it is running PC100 now, that's 168 pin DIMM SDRAM. That is a lot of memory already in the board for only a 166mhz CPU. For a cpu that slow, you can actually bog it down by putting more than 128mb of memory it, it just consumes to many resources......memory consumes cpu resources just like any other device you place on a mobo (or software/programs running of course). When you add more than 64mb, it "looses efficiency". The exception would be if that much memory really IS needed for certain app's, such as running CAD software, extensive graphics design, etc. -Clint http://orpheuscomputing.com http://orpheuscomputing.com/domains.html Clint Hamilton ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Peter, The CPU is around 166 or so. And it is using SDRAM, since it currently has a 128 and 64 Meg SDRAM simms already installed. The SDRAM installed is PC100 buss speed. Will try and take a look the next time I am over at his place, at the start-up screen to see if I can figure out the manufacture of the board. Thanks for the info about Sandra, since did not realize about the program. Ralph Peter Kaulback wrote: > > >Ralph > > Ralph, this PII, what cpu is running in it?
