Lee...it sounds to me like that hard drive may be failing....if it were me,
I would back up all my data fast or you may indeed lose it all....then get a
new HD

just my opinion, but this is what I would do

Subject: PCWorks: bad sectors on HD

hi all..
have a machine which started to give me BSOD message 'unable to write to
Drive C: files may be lost' so after a few of those I ran the through scan
disk. Came back indicating some bad sectors. that was 12 days ago..now it is
freezing alot more often and will lock up at 18% if I try to run
scandisk--it wont defrag at all--locks up immediately. Anyone know a utility
to help this situation- hopefully without losing the data on the disk?

TIA

Lee
