In the wee hour of 04:01 PM 6/4/01 -0400, Lee Berenson bequeathed such
tales as these:
>hi all..
>have a machine which started to give me BSOD message 'unable to write to
>Drive C: files may be lost' so after a few of those I ran the through scan
>disk. Came back indicating some bad sectors. that was 12 days ago..now it is

>scandisk--it wont defrag at all--locks up immediately. Anyone know a utility

Lee, back up all important data now or you might not have it at all very
quickly. To help save the drive for enough time to save your data you
should get Spin Rite 5 http://grc.com/spinrite.htm as it is excellent at
saving failing drives and recovering data. Remember that since you are
experiencing so many errors so quickly your best option is to just replace
the drive altogether, new drives are priced so low presently that this is
the most convenient option available.
