Hi guys, For some time now I have experienced a spontaneous reboot on my dialup
connection, just as the 'Verifying username
and password' is about to change to "Logging on". This happens about six times a
month and is a pain.
Checking my modem log, I have discovered that, at least on the last two occasions, the
following wording has appeared:
08-04-2001 14:56:44.16 WARNING: A previous program left a connection established.
Hanging up previous connection...
08-04-2001 14:56:44.16 - Hardware hangup by lowering DTR.
08-04-2001 14:56:45.36 - WARNING: The modem did not respond to lowering DTR. Trying
software hangup
My questions are, how can a previous program leave a connection established? What
will cure this problem?
My O/S is Windows Me, Celeron 600 on a Gigabyte mobo. 33600 Maestro modem with latest
driver. Connection speed limited to
24600 due to poor phone lines. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Immediately after writing the above, I switched my modem back on and attempted to dial
up, but a dialogue box told me
'Another program is dialling the selected connection' ! Now I'm really stumped!
