Previous dial-up didn't have proper modem initialization string to reset
modem and/or it didn't use the proper hang-up command.
The general Hayes modem hangup command is AT+++H
Proper modem initialization strings normally reset the modem, clearing any
and all previous settings. The general Hayes command for reset is ATZ.
So your dialing command should be ATZ followed by the Initialization string
(something like, for example my old Zoom modem,
&F&C1&D2X4\N3&K3S95=3S0=0S7=60). I used to use a script to dial my old
Netcom account but all that information is long gone.
