Did you download and install a new program?
If yes, could be.
If no, maybe you visited a web site that has one of those nasty Adware cookies.
Remove them with Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/
Are you online longer? like with cable or DSL?
If so, then probably nothing to worry about, especially if the probes
emanate from different computers.
