In the sound card of your computer there is certainly a socket
marked as "line in". Connect the output socket of your cassette
recorder to the "line in" socket. If you don't have a special
output socket on the cassette recorder, you might use the
socket for earphones.
You will also need a WAV-file recorder. For short recordings
you might use the standard sound recorder SNDREC32.EXE which
comes with Windows. But better get e.g. Accoustica or CoolEdit
or something like this.
Then you should fiddle a little with volume controls.
Options - properties - recording - select the check box for
"line balance" and move the volume control to approx. 70%.
Start playing the cassette recorder and start the sound
recorder. Set the recording level (see above) not too high
to avoid distortion of the recording.
