Sound card check:
MyComputer -- Control Panel
Double click Sounds
Click Default sound to select (highlight)
Click right arrow under Preview
If you hear the sound then speakers and sound card working. Problem probably
is in browser. Let's check it next. If No sounds from speaker skip browser
check and check system.

IE browser check:
Tools -- Internet Options -- Advanced tab
Scroll down to Multimedia section
Check "Play sound in web pages"

Specifies whether music and other sounds can play when pages are displayed.

Sometimes pages that contain audio clips are displayed very slowly. If you
want to display pages more quickly, make sure this check box is cleared.

If RealNetworks RealAudio is installed, or if a video clip is playing, some
sounds might play even if you clear this check box.

Sytem check:
MyComputer -- Control Panel
Double click System
Click Device manager tab

Make sure no Yellow exclamation marks or red "x", If any, this is the
problem area.
An X through a device's icon means the device has been disabled. A circled
exclamation point through the device's icon means the device has a problem.
The type of problem will be displayed in the Properties dialog box for the
device.

To double check,
