Virginia,
This reminds me, if you have your Ethernet card in your Network
properties, remove it from there and remove the card, then reboot.

So the sugguestion the CL tech gave me was to do another Win98SE
reinstall,
BUT take all but the video card out before the install. Once windows is
up
and running, THEN install each card separately with its software, to
hopefully get back to a stable system. Hopefully, windows will finally
end
up assigning each device to the correct IRQ and related system settings,
and this nightmare I have been going through will finally end.
