Microcode is the actual "program" contained in a ROM BIOS chip. When power is applied, the BIOS microinstructions, which may or may not be hard-wired circuity, are used to implement the startup functions for the computer. No doubt your BIOS chip contains code to check for the correct CPU size and speed. Note that each CPU has the CPUID builtin to its microcode.You will either need to get a new BIOS or look for a jumper or switch setting on the motherboard that allows you to change CPU speed. >Second question on a second motherboard I broke the little clip on the cpu >socket so I can not clip the fan down.
