I've had excellent results from Acer Gold CD-R 16x, 700MB;  Also TDK CDR-74 650 MD 
discs.  On the uk.rec.audio NG, TDK was
very favourably mentioned in a thread on this same subject.   Glad I never tried 
Memorex !   HTH
