I have that page bookmarked, and that might be what I HAVE to end up doing...but the problem there is they have ALL KINDS of 'things', and I only want to install the (for lack of a better term) "ORIGINAL/STANDARD MS CERTIFIED/APPROVED" [so to speak], updates and patches that I was previously able to get to at the update site. If any of you plan on reformatting your win98 systems, STOP until you find out what happens to me on this other computer! I might have to install IE 5.01 SP2 just in order to get to the windows update site. I never do that first, I always FIRST install the win98 updates but it appears I may not have a choice.
You wouldn't have the problem since you have SE. The win98 SP is already part of SE. -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com http://ComputerHardware-ConsumerElectronics.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Clint, I get to wonder, after what you have posted - what would happen if you went to Axcel's page: http://members.aol.com/axcel216/ and got and installed all the stuff for updates on his page for Win98, and then tried to see what you get at Microsoft's web page??? >From what I can tell, he has pretty much every update for every Dos and Win version around, and a TON of everything else as well it seems. If you are not getting anything from Microsoft, it might be worth this work around. I am interested from my own situation - due to problems I have got recently with my own Win98SE system, I have to reinstall Win98 from scratch again (involves hardware issues and related stuff), so this is one thing I have wondered about myself. My situation may be quite different than yours, since it was already a known factor to Microsoft, where yours was a brand new install, but still gets me to wonder.
