I did have to add authentication because I was suddenly not able to send, although I
continued to receive mail. I now can send via
yahoo using my cable connection. Others who are downloading
yahoo mail and sending via their connections should take note.

The Yahoo! Mail SMTP server now requires authentication. To learn how
to
reconfigure your email program, please
choose from the following supported programs:
Netscape Messenger 4 and higher
Microsoft Outlook 98, 2000, and 2002
Outlook Express 4 and higher
Eudora 4.3 and higher
If your program and version is not listed above, you may have trouble
connecting to the Yahoo! Mail SMTP servers.
Other programs and versions are not supported.
Please make sure that you have entered your Yahoo! Mail Address as
the
"From" address in your email client. You
will not be able to send mail if you have entered another address.
If you try both of the above steps and continue to have problems your
ISP
may not allow their users to send
messages with other companies' SMTP outgoing mail servers.
If you have set the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server" field in Yahoo!
Mail to
smtp.mail.yahoo.com, have set your
client to use authenticated SMTP, and find that you can receive but
cannot
send messages, you may have to use your
ISP server's address, rather than Yahoo!'s. Please contact your ISP
for the
SMTP server address to enter.
