I'd suggest a PCI controller card. I have a SIIG card, mdl CN2474, around $40 US that I installed for flexibility.
It's a dual channel card, so it can handle 4 devices, and comes with a driver diskette and one 80 wire ata100 cable. That won't require a mobo bios update, it supports itself.
