Yes Marlene, that is the sort of card that will work. It requires
a PCI slot, but it is powered off of the PCI slot/ bus. The card
itself doesn't require a power supply lead.

Clint's reply is very valid also, afaik. The dvd-rom that I have
is an (early) 1x or 2x player, that's only used for data dvds
(comp mag dvds). I haven't used it to view movies. For data type
dvds you may not require anything additional, (decoding software
et cetera). ( But I'm not certain of this).

Someone else may have something to add. Here is  a very
