Hi Sandy

I had a lot of trouble until I updated the dongle drivers from the company
that made the software.  In my case there were specific drivers for Windows
XP that I needed.  You don't say which operating system you have.  I would
check the software company's website for updates or specific issues related
to the problem you are having.  I was able to get a USB dongle instead of
the parallel port type for a different computer with problems, and a plotter
attached.
