But not everyone has the time to keep up with every email posted to the list. :) Was not a matter of "disinterest", only a matter of "time". It just makes sense to include a "problem" along with any "fix" in the same email so all members can follow along. :-)
Thanks, interesting.... Speaking of patches, that doesn't surprise me. The last several I installed from the windows update site rendered these PC's USELESS!! I am NEVER installing another MS update again!! MANY times this has happened before. 4 times with so called "driver updates" that for each respectively, rendered the sound card, video card, Promise ATA 133 controller card, and on another mobo the Promise integrated RAID, USELESS. As for the updates, at LEAST TWICE. Most recent being one just added to the update site (for win98 users) "Q314147: Security Update". After installing that POS, this PC would NEVER BOOT!! Restoring the registry didn't even fix it! And contrary to what the MS Jerks state, there IS NO "uninstallation" for it!! Took me several hours to repair what this update destroyed. Needless to say I did NOT install it on any of the other PC's. The other two times was for "Security Update, March 7, 2002" and "Security Update, March 4, 2002". One or both of these caused OE to take a FULL MINUTE to open and hang up the PC's during that period of time! Was not just the computers either, it happened on ALL of the computers over here. Yet another time that comes to mind was a "driver update" for the HPT 366 controller on a Soyo mobo. After installing it, the ONLY way to removed the yellow marks in the device manager it caused was a reformat! >:( So everyone, BEWARE of updates from the windows update site!!! DO NOT trust these imbeciles!! You'd think they'd have the "intelligence" to TEST patches or drivers and make sure they work before they upload them for millions to "Contaminate" their computers with. Now I know why so many hate M$ products and use Linux and MAC's!! If I'd have the time to learn all over again a new OS and platform, I would have changed long ago. -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ted Mozer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sorry. I explained this problem before, but if you were not interested (at the time) I guess you missed it.... At some point a week or so ago, probably after installing a patch, a version of IE60 running on an XP Pro computer started showing blank windows when you opened a new window (or pop-up) from the original window - you know the kind that open while leaving the original opened. The below fix was given to me on the MS IE6 user's forum and worked immediately! -----Original Message----- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Clint Hamilton What exactly was the problem, could you elaborate a bit please? When were you getting a blank window? -Clint ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Found the fix to my IE6 blank window problem: Run the following - regsvr32 urlmon.dll Thanks to the Microsoft online forum..... ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
