I though it was *69.  I'm not familiar right off hand with
any software that does this (I haven't used a dialup in 3
yrs), but we have some V.92 modems in that do this.
"Modem On Hold" (switch between modem and an incoming phone
call without losing the data connections).  Please email off
list if you want more info.

I do not use *70 to disable call waiting.
I put the following in the extra settings of my modem,
ATS10=1
thinking that any interruption more than one tenth of a
second would disconnect me but it does not.  When someone
calls me the person calling just gets the ringing sound and
nothing happens on my end.

Am I going to have to break down and buy something like the
Catch-A-Call device?
