Popup Stopper has a FREE version that does a good
job at eliminating those kinds of unwanted Scum-ware.

Just hold down either the SHIFT or the CTRL key when
clicking on a link you want to open. Popup Stopper will
keep the unwanted links from opening.
However, that Gator is another persistent Animal that can
sneak in on another program.

To get rid of it, run Ad-Aware, which will find the sources
outside of the system registry. Delete these finds.

Next, to remove the GATOR from your registry is a bit
time consuming.
Run REGEDIT
Click EDIT - FIND and type in GATOR

Caution. . .make sure that the GATOR findings pertain
to the GATOR spyware, because the Editor will probably
find Gator names in some of your legitimate system files.
Just delete the findings and Press F3 to continue the
process until you get the message, NO More Files found.
There will probably be about a 100 or so of these Gator hits.
So, don't be discouraged. . .Close the Registry and reboot,
You should have the Gator in shackles and leg irons now.
HTH,
Ed

I am curious about Gator which keeps appearing as spyware when I
run Ad-ware. Does anyone know just program or whatever it is coming
from???

I seem to delete it and it keeps coming back. I run Windows 98SE - I.E.
Browser
and O.E. 6. Azhodge
