Jeff, what OS is this?  If it's 98xx and not XP, why not do
it the regular way?  Go to display properties, then open the
'screen saver' tab.  Set that to 'none', then click
'settings', then set monitor to never power down.

I tried to follow the instructions on this link to disable
screen saver during
defrag, but not all the information matches what I see.
In registry editor, right column, I only have two columns.
Name and data. columns..no value column.
Here is what I entered..is this the same thing?
