Clint,  I have my System Restore set to the recommended minimum of 200 MB.  This gives 
me 59 .CAB files in Archives, a few
.LOG files and 41 .TMP files.
This seems to be a very useable amount of backup and, on the rare occasions I've need 
to use it, it hasn't failed me.   HTH
