(excluding 2k and NT)....Start>Run, type msconfig

If that's what it is, that's bad news.  That is some of the
most serious spyw*re out there.  (Heck even if it's not,
that's pretty aggravating I can imagine!)  Tell them to look
in the startup tab (MSCONFIG), (which I do not know how to
get to in XP), and uncheck boxes not needed.
